About
Welcome to Alaska’s Storefront Repertory Theatre Company!
Our Mission
The founding philosophy of Midnight Sun Theatre is to provide well trained, professional actors opportunities to perform and train in Anchorage while giving the city high quality, value priced entertainment.
To achieve this goal, we offer a full season of outstanding productions featuring casts of local performers who have distinguished themselves in the community.
Additionally, we provide a series of monthly workshops on Acting Techniques, Technical Theatre and presentations from successful professionals in the industry who got their starts in Alaska, as well as performers and techs from the Lower 48.
While most of our workshops are value priced, some are even FREE! So join us for Theatrical Training!
Our History
Midnight Sun Theatre began with the discovery that there was a group of artists that didn’t have a performance outlet. These were the students who went to the Lower 48 to get their educations in theatre, who were talented and well-trained, but couldn’t get a break. While at school they had limited access to performing even in their own schools, and during the Summer, there were no shows here. How do you build experience like that?
So Midnight Sun was born to provide high quality entertainment to residents and tourists alike while giving young pre-professional actors an opportunity to expand their resumes.
Beginning with our original Summer Stock company, we’ve expanded to the Repertory Theatre that exists today.
